Consultant Adult Psychiatrist with a particular interest in medico-legal work: clinical negligence cases, coroner's inquests, assessments of capacity, personal injury assessment, employment tribunals, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, neurotic disorders, psychotic disorders and personality disorders.
Will accept instructions on behalf of both claimant and defendant and as a single joint expert.
Initial medical qualifications from Oxford & Cambridge Universities. Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Member of the Royal College of Physicians, Doctorate in Medicine from Oxford University. Medical Director, Dorset Healthcare NHS Trust from 2000-2015. Registrar of Royal College of Psychiatrists from 2010-2015, responsible for national policy, standards and revalidation for psychiatrists. Chair of South West Regional Mental Health Network 2015-2017. Over 25 years experience as consultant psychiatrist in NHS practice.
Visiting Professor, Bournemouth University. Clinical Advisor, General Pharmaceutical Council. Author of Psychiatry Chapter in Clinical Negligence, Powers & Barton, in 2015. Joint editor Expert Psychiatric Evidence, CUP 2020.
