Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Trust. Consultant since 1988. Experience in single handed and multi disciplinary pain teams. Author and Editor of Pain Clinic Manual, (highly commended BMA book prize), Butterworth Heinemen and Total Intravenous Anaesthesia Manual. Published requested articles and papers in National and International peer reviewed journals. Featured and taught nationally and internationally in pain management intervention, procedures and topics.

Dr Padfield has undertaken medico-legal work for the last twenty years. He is conversant with the new part 35 civil procedure rules. He accepts roughly ninety to one hundred new instructions a year. For both claimant and defendant with no preference. I am now very rarely instructed as a single joint expert. The bulk of the work is personal injury but Dr Padfield is now being frequently instructed in negligence cases.

Over the last three years Dr Padfield has been instructed by 112 Solicitors and has given 57 reports in Negligence cases
Expert Witness reports and court appearances giving expert evidence for both plaintiffs and defendants. He also has experience appearing in court, including oral evidence in personal injury and clinical negligence cases for the claimant and defendant in the District, County and High Courts. and at an Industrial tribunal.

Areas of expertise include; pain management, personal injury, neuropathic pain, TIVA - total intravenous anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, spinal cord stimulation, neuromodulation, CRPS, clinical negligence, road traffic and whiplash injuries.

Dr Padfield has working knowledge and conversational fluency in Italian and French.
