With over 40 years in psychiatry, I am an experienced expert witness, particularly in cases of medical negligence and personal injury. I have written numerous reports on adults who had allegedly been abused as children.
Until 2011 I was Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, where I was also Trust lead clinician on suicide prevention. In 1989 I established a private practice in which I continued until retirement in 2015. In 2010 I was appointed by the Lord Chancellor as a Specialist Medical Member of the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health), since when I have regularly sat on Mental Health Tribunals.
I have been an Examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and their Regional Representative. I have published more than 25 papers in learned journals on a variety of subjects and am the author or co-author of several chapters and books.
So that I can solely focus on alleged clinical negligence, I no longer provide reports on other areas of mental health. I do not provide forensic (criminal) reports as I do not regard these as being within my area of expertise. My reports deal exclusively with alleged clinical negligence following a suicide or attempted suicide.
