Specialist in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition for 25 years. Consultant paediatric gastroenterologist in a tertiary referral centre (Birmingham Children’s Hospital) for more than 20 years (1993-2014). The Paediatric Gastroenterology Department in Birmingham deals with all aspects of gastrointestinal disease in infants and children up to 18 yrs.
Special expertise in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn's disease and colitis), short bowel syndrome and other forms of intestinal failure, gastro-oesophageal reflux, feeding/eating disorders, malabsorption, abdominal pain, constipation, vomiting and diarrhoea, failure to thrive and other nutritional problems, intravenous feeding/ parenteral nutrition. Experienced in writing medical reports and giving evidence in court. Child protection, medical negligence etc.
I am Editor/Author of a major international textbook on endoscopy, entitled ‘Pediatric Gastrointestinal Endoscopy’.
I retired from the NHS in 2014 and I currently work as Clinical Advisor at the National Guideline Alliance (RCOG, London) where I provide clinical leadership for the development of Clinical Guidelines for infants, children and young people for NICE.
