The sole RCVS deer specialist, Dr Fletcher has a PhD in deer reproduction from Cambridge in addition to his Glasgow veterinary qualification. He established Britain's first deer farm in 1973 and has since worked full time with wild and parkland deer internationally and in the UK, winning the Queen's Award for Export in 1990. He has chaired the British Deer Farmers' Association and the Veterinary Deer Society.
