Dr Elsner obtained his medical degree at Melbourne University in 1967 and commenced orthopaedic practice in 1977, undertaking general orthopaedics and a considerable amount of trauma,in public and private hospitals. He worked exclusively in the private hospital system form 1987 onwards with particular interest in lower limb arthroplasty, arthroscopic knee surgery, spinal problems and also undertook upper limb surgery but not hand surgey.He stopped operating in 2003. He has completed AMA 2 and AMA 4 Impairment Training Sessions under the auspices of the VWA and regularly undertakes these, particularly AMA 4 assessments of upper and lower limbs and spine.
