Recognised international expert in psychopharmacology – the effect of medicines and drugs on perception, mood, behaviour, arousal and cognitive function. Director of Pharmacy and Pathology at the Maudsley Hospital and Professor of Psychopharmacology, Kings College, London. International profile in research and author of several textbooks of psychopharmacology, including the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines. Member of UK Government panel on Drug Driving. Member of government Advisory Council on Misuse of Drugs.
Has provided expert witness testimony for more than 400 cases and made around 50 court appearances. Extensive experience of cases involving suspected adverse effects of psychotropic medicines and of claims resulting from prescribing errors (including those resulting in addiction/dependence). Expertise in the behavioural effects of antidepressants and many other drugs. Available for expert reports and court appearances.
