Director of Pharmacy and Pathology at the Maudsley Hospital and Professor of Psychopharmacology, Kings College, London. International profile in research (author of over 500 publications) and editor of several textbooks of psychopharmacology, including the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines. Former member of UK Government panel on Drug Driving and of the Advisory Council on Misuse of Drugs.

Has provided expert witness testimony for more than 400 cases and made over 50 court appearances. Extensive experience of cases involving suspected adverse effects of psychotropic medicines and of claims resulting from prescribing errors (including those resulting in addiction/dependence and withdrawal).
