Consultancy formed in 1994 by John Hislam, Mike Turner and Neil Smith as a Geotechnical Engineering Company. John Hislam BSc, MPhil, CEng, FICE, MASCE is a Member of the British Geotechnical Association, the British Tunnelling Society, the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and the American Society of Civil Engineers and his expertise is in Foundation design, Tunnelling Projects, Remedial Ground Treatment, Piling work and Bridges, having been involved with such since 1965; Mike Turner BSc (Geology), MSc Engineering Geology, CEng, MICE is a Member of the British Geotechnical Association and a Fellow of the Geological Society and, is concerned with all aspects of engineering, geology and geotechnical engineering within the civil engineering and allied industries. He is often concerned with the topic of ‘unforeseen ground conditions’ in soils and rocks and the adequacy and interpretation of the ground investigations associated with such problems. He is also particularly involved in the design, construction and performance of the specialist techniques associated with ground anchors, soil nails and minipiles/micropiles, as well as “conventional” drilled, bored and driven pile systems. Eur Ing Neil Smith BSc(Eng), MSc, CEng, FICE is a UK Registered Ground Engineering Adviser and a Fellow of the Geological Society. His expertise is in ground investigation and characterisation, foundation design and construction. He has broad experience of specialist ground engineering techniques. He has acted as expert witness and claims adviser on a wide variety of matters including slope stability, soil settlement/swelling, piling, and groundwater.
