Consultant Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeon and former Clinical Director at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, Clinical Lead for R+D at Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals, Basildon, Essex. Professor at Anglia Ruskin University Post graduate Medical Institute , with extensive clinical and academic experience in Mesothelioma, Thoracic Oncology and Lung Surgery. Ongoing extensive clinical and academic experience in Open Heart Surgery including research into off pump ‘ beating heart’ coronary artery bypass grafting , arterial conduit use and Video Assisted Thoracoscopy and keyhole surgical techniques. Principal Investigator of several National Portfolio Clinical Trials including UK ART, CRISP, CORONARY, ERRICA, MESOVATS and PulMICC. Chairman NCRI Clinical Studies Group in Complimentary Therapies; Member Topic Selection Panel NICE; Executive Member Essex and Herts CLRN ; Former Medical Director of West Anglia and Anglia Cancer Networks . I have published, lectured and given presentations to my peers extensively and have been an Expert Witness/Assessor with the NHS Litigation Authority since 1999.
