Professor Brendan Thomas Monteiro is an Honorary Professor Health and Society at the University of Salford. He is committed to
academic and research endeavours in Deaf Mental Health care and Autistic Spectrum Conditions in both deaf and hearing people. He has received a Pioneering Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award for my passion and commitment to Deaf Mental Health Care.

Prof. Monteiro is visiting Consultant Psychiatrist to Jacobs Clinic, Sale; he is in the process of setting up Adult Autistic Spectrum Conditions,.Previously he was a Consultant Psychiatrist working in Deaf Mental Healthcare for 37 years prior to this appointment. With over 40 years experience in developing Deaf Mental Health Care and has provided numerous reports on Deaf and Hard of Hearing People.

He established his MedicoLegal Practice since 1989. Providing an average of 60 to 70 reports per year. He provides expert psychiatric Reports on behalf of Claimants and Defendants in keeping with CPR 35. Also independent psychiatric reports to the Civil Courts and forensic psychiatric reports to Criminal Courts on deaf individuals, Anonymised reports available on request.

Deafness caused in Noisy working environments can be devastating and have personal, occupational, psychological and social consequences to the individual and their families. Tinnitus can be very disconcerting and has a mutually reinforcing relationship with anxiety and depression.With expertise in Psychological implications of Deafness and Tinnitus, Prof. Monteiro can provide MedicoLegal reports within these areas of expertise.

Prof. Monteiro endeavours to obtain feedback from all Instructing Solicitors and clients following the assessment and provision of the report. This feedback is crucial to his Appraisal and Revalidation process and needs to be assiduously completed for him to maintain his licence to practice.

He has experience of South Asian cultural issues and can speak Hindi.
