I have worked as a consultant in Emergency Medicine for over 23 years. I trained in London, Australia and Leicester. In my current post I am a Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine for University Hospitals Morecambe Bay NHS FT, and Honorary Clinical Teacher in Emergency Medicine and Medical Law for the University of Lancaster Medical School. In addition I have been an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine FRCEM Fellowship examination since 2010.

I hold an LLM in Law as applied to Medical Practice (awarded by Cardiff University Law School) with modules dealing with consent, negligence  and the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. My dissertation was on ‘Gross Negligence Manslaughter in Medical Practitioners’. This coupled with my extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, and fifteen years as an Examiner for the RCEM, as well as previous Instructor status for the three main life support courses means that I am well- placed to provide expert opinion in the field of Emergency Medicine.
