I have been a full-time NHS Consultant Cardiologist and General Physician at BCUHB since 2005 and I am on the Specialist Register for Cardiology & General Internal Medicine and participate actively in both a busy general cardiology rota and a general medical on call rota.
I have provided expert evidence since 2009 in a wide range of cases with an emphasis on clinical negligence, personal injury, causation, condition and prognosis and complex life expectancy calculations. I regularly work on cases involving the NHSR, MDU, MPS, Health Ombudsman, Coroner Inquests and employment tribunals, MOD and HMP. Expertise includes complications from cardiac procedures, atrial fibrillation, syncope, palpitations, cardiac arrest and other arrhythmias, chest pain and myocardial infarction, cardiac risk assessment, breathlessness, heart failure, cardiomyopathy (including dilated, hypertrophic, peripartum), hypertension, endocarditis and valvular heart disease, stroke, pulmonary embolism, cardiac trauma, thrombosis and anticoagulation.
I currently produce ~120 reports/year in the proportion of 40% Claimant, 50% Defendant, 10% Joint Expert and regularly give expert evidence in Court, Inquests and Tribunals. I accept instructions in civil and criminal cases throughout the UK and Ireland as well as internationally. I am able to undertake home visits, and can provide overview reports for limited instructions or offer pro bono telephone advice on a case, with a report in 2-4 weeks.
