Mr Peter Willson, Consultant General Surgeon with a private practice at The New Victoria Hospital in SW London. He retired from NHS practice at Kingston Hospital, a District Hospital, in March 2018 after 34 years in the NHS and 20 years as a consultant. Appointed Medical Director of the New Victoria Hospital in July 2020 and a Board member of the Hospital in 2021. Advisor to industry and educator on Energy in Surgery.
Emergencies commonly treated in his previous NHS practice included gallstone disease; including cholecystitis, acute pancreatitis and obstructive jaundice, appendicitis, the acute abdomen; including appendicitis, diverticulitis, perforated peptic ulcer disease, bowel perforation, and bowel obstruction. Abdominal trauma and head injury (local management not neurosurgery).

Benign Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Surgery: Gallstones and laparoscopic cholecystectomy, surgical treatment of acid reflux and hiatus hernia by fundoplication and other benign disease of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum and small bowel. Pancreatitis. Hernia Surgery: He has experience in the management of all types of abdominal hernia surgery. Laparoscopy: He has experience in laparoscopic abdominal surgery.
He does not perform surgery for malignancy of the upper gut or colorectal surgery
Energy in Surgery: He is expert in electrosurgery (diathermy), ultrasonics, vessel sealing, ignition hazards and burns during surgery.
