Paul Allen is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in conditions of the knee. He qualified from Kings College Hospital in 1970 and went on to train in Orthopaedics at St Thomas’ Hospital culminating with a year as Associate Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. Mr Allen’s interests include patello-femoral disorders, radiological assessment of the degenerative knee and osteotomies of the knee. He deals with all conditions affecting the knee joint especially knee injuries, disorders of the patello femoral joint and the treatment of the young adult degenerate knee. He has performed over 2,000 knee arthroplasties and has the largest series of osteotomies in the country. He has also developed a modified technique for treating the younger patient with premature patello-femoral arthritis and reported his 15 year results at the Combined Orthopaedic Associations meeting in Glasgow in 2010. Mr Allen retired from NHS practice in November 2010 but continues at his private practices at Sevenoaks Medical Centre and Chelsfield Park.
