Dr Jahangir Mahmood

Dr Mahmood is a Consultant Psychiatrist with significant expertise in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and in the management of Trauma cases. His Special Interests are Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Sleep Medicine.

He has significant experience of preparing medical and psychiatric reports, having prepared over 1,500 medicolegal and psychiatric reports for legal firms and private organisations. Dr Mahmood has also appeared as an Expert Witness, when summoned by the Court.

Dr Mahmood can prepare and provide reports for the full range of General Adult Psychiatry cases, including common conditions such as Schizophrenia, Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has extensive experience of treating PTSD cases, particularly those relating to Trauma caused by sexual abuse, assault and road traffic accidents. He has a history of successfully treating these cases using a combination of pharmacological treatments, EMDR, and an integrative psychotherapeutic approach, with bespoke therapeutic and treatment plans offered, depending on the patient and the severity of their condition.

Dr Mahmood is able to offer a rapid turnaround time for preparation of reports, depending on their complexity, which is usually within 2 to 3 weeks.
