Current Appointment

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry working in a Home Treatment Team. I have previously been a consultant liaison psychiatrist for 5 years

I have been a fulltime NHS consultant since 2006 employed by NHS Foundation Trust. I work in an inner-city area with high rates of severe and complex mental illness. It is an inner–city area that is very diverse in terms of socio-economic background, ethnicity and population change.

Professional Experience

I studied at Trinity College Dublin and trained in psychiatry in St. Patrick’s Hospital, Dublin, and in East London. I have been working in psychiatry for 20 years and have been a consultant for 10 years. I have training and experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in the fields of general adult psychiatry, liaison psychiatry (mental health and physical health) and addictions.

I have a Masters in the Treatment of Addictive Behaviours from the Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. I am a member of the British Neuropsychiatry Association.

• I have attended Clinical Negligence training (2015) delivered by Specialist Info (Jonathan Dingle 218 Strand).

• I have undertaken multiple visits to clients in their homes, in prison and at solicitors’ offices.

• I prepare an average of 120 reports per year in civil, criminal and family proceedings including housing, asylum and occupational health proceedings. I have appeared in crown courts and magistrates’ courts including the Old Bailey.
