Jonathan Cracknell is a Zoological and Wildlife Consultant Veterinarian. He is Director of Animal Operations, Longleat Safari and Adventure Park and founder of Jonathan Cracknell Wildlife Anaesthesia Services. He has a strong interest in conservation, welfare and anaesthesia of animals in captivity and the wild. With a particular interest in Elephant endotheliotropic herpes virus (EEHV). A devastating infectious disease of both wild and captive Asian (Elephas maximus) and African (Loxodonta africana) elephants. EEHV is a major cause of mortality, especially in Asian elephant calves and is a major concern in the conservation of these charismatic animals. Mr Cracknell offers expert opinion on the care and development of animals and all matters relating to zoology.
