Dr Simon Martin Halstead is a Independent Consultant Psychiatrist based in Staffordshire. He has operated a full time independent, medico-legal practice since January 2014. He has a vast experience as a Clinical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist and has expertise in the areas of; Capacity assessments Forensic cases including murder and diminished responsibilities Family cases [parental mental health], Fitness to plead Insanity Mental Health Act 1983 Dr Halstead has expert witness experience, providing medico-legal reports and court/tribunal appearances for; Criminal cases, Family [including adult capacity and best interests], Mental Health assessments and child and adolescent mental health cases. Dr Halstead has been a member of the Specialist Register since January 1996, under the category of psychiatry of learning disability. He is also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and, a Member of Mental Health Review Tribunal Wales [from 2003.] Also approved under section 12(2) Mental Health Act 1983. He is widely published and active in reasearch.
