My training in Psychiatry has been comprehensive and has exposed me to several sub-specialties. Currently I am the clinical lead of the multi-disciplinary community team. Our catchment area contains a wide variety of ethnic minorities. I am an approved trainer by the Royal College, supervising a CT1 Trainee, ST4 trainee and an FY Trainee. With over 18 years experience in the diagnosis and management of mental health problems. I have also received training in a wide range of psychiatric specialities e.g CAMHS ( Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services , old age, learning disability and psychotherapy which has added to my experience. Furthermore, I have received additional specialist training in forensic psychiatry during my higher training. I have special interest in post traumatic stress disorder and affective disorders For the last 11 years in my current role as a consultant in adult psychiatry I have been responsible for the care of patients with severe and enduring mental illnesses. Care is provided in various settings including outpatient ,inpatient and in the community. Since 2007 I have been undertaking medico- legal work. I have been involved in family cases, emigration/refugees’ cases, and personal injuries’ cases.
Section (12) approved since 1998. I keep myself updated with case law and I attend a MHA refresher course yearly. Well versed with the principles of the Mental Health Act 2003, the amended version (2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act.
