Dr Julie Cox is a Consultant in Clinical Radiology based in the North of England. She qualified in 1993 and was appointed as a Consultant in 2002. She has special interests in breast and general radiology and interventional radiology. She has an interest in cancer diagnostic pathways and has acted as an expert in cases of delayed diagnosis of cancer, particularly breast and lung cancer.
Dr Cox has undertaken medico-legal work since 2013, with the following split of work; 70% for the Claimant, 20% for the defendant and 10% Joint expert instruction. Waiting time from appointment to report is approximately 6-8 weeks. Dr Cox writes 30 reports per year and has appeared in Court as an expert witness. She can write overview reports and medicolegal liability and causation reports on general diagnostic radiology as well as breast and interventional radiology cases.
She is a Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland and has been co opted as a member of three NICE ( National Institute of Clinical Excellence) Guideline Committees.
