Dr Nigel Tufft has been a consultant for more than 20 years. He has a wide range of experience in both anaesthesia and intensive care.

Until recently he worked at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt NHS Trust, a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where his practice includes spinal anaesthesia, and a range of regional anaesthetic techniques alongside general anaesthesia. In addition to anaesthetising for both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty surgery he works with surgeons covering all aspects of orthopaedics.


From 2015 to 2020 Dr Tufft regularly performed anaesthesia for bariatric surgery at a private clinic in Keflavik, Iceland.

Dr Tufft worked at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust as a consultant in anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine from 1998 until 2017. Here he provided anaesthetic services to the wide range of surgical specialties found in a district general hospital

As a consultant in intensive care medicine Dr Tufft has a wide experience in dealing with medical and surgical intensive care patients found in a district general hospital and requiring organ support. He is experienced in invasive and non‐invasive ventilation; cardiovascular monitoring and support; haemodialysis and haemofiltration and procedures such as central lines, including dialysis lines, arterial lines; percutaneous tracheostomy and mini‐tracheostomy.

Dr Tufft requested to be seconded back to full time intensive care during the covid pandemic.

Dr Tufft has currently paused his clinical work but continues to provide expert witness services to both cliamants and defendants in the fields of adult anaesthesia and intensive care. He is fully familiar with CPR part 35.

He will provide both fully compliant reports for the courts, and screening reports for solicitors and their clients.

Turnaround time for full reports is typically 4 weeks but it may be possible to expedite this by negotiation.

Dr Tufft is happy to use zoom or other virtual platforms for meetings or consultations where applicable.

Dr Tufft was awarded the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Certificate in April 2019.
