ICPS (Independent Child Psychology Services) is a nationwide network of experienced educational psychologists, experts in using psychology to assess the needs of children and young people who have learning difficulties. Over time we have developed the particular skill set needed to act as expert witnesses.
As part of this, we produce detailed reports, tailored to the requirements of litigation, which describe the nature and extent of the problems faced by children in school and at home. These can reflect inherited difficulties, as well as trauma resulting from accidents and/or neglect.
We have particular skills in putting children and their families at ease, in what can be stressful situations. Because we are friendly and approachable while always acting professionally, we can provide an efficient and effective service in supporting other agencies in their work with children.
Parents, schools, local authorities and solicitors commission our services, but our client is always the child at the centre of a problematic situation. To provide entirely independent opinions, we collect evidence from individual assessment as well as consulting with parents, care givers and teachers. As well as reporting this evidence in detail, our reports make comprehensive recommendations for future action.
Most of our associates have been senior managers in local authority educational psychology services. They are able to offer a range of interventions, tailored to the specific needs of educational organisations.
Our educational psychology and consultancy services are completely confidential, and available nationwide. We can be flexible in how we work, visiting children in familiar situations (home and/or school). We are all registered with the Health Professions Council and have current DBS checks.
