Mr Jeremy Ryan is a a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon based at Sunderland Royal Hospital. He qualified in 1985 and was appointed to his current post at Sunderland Royal Hospital in September 1993. He trained on the Merseyside rotation, Queen Mary's University Hospital and Guys Hospital. During his training Mr Ryan completed attachments at The Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota, The University Hospital of Minnesota and The Kenyetta Hospital in Nairobi.
Mr Ryan specialises in facial plastic surgery and the management of facial skin cancer. He has special clinical interests in:
Facial trauma including soft tissue injuries to head and neck region,
Facial deformity, including correction of jaw deformity and surgical correction of soft-tissue deformity
Surgical and non-surgical facial cosmetic procedures,
Skin cancer, facial skin cancer and oral cancers,
Salivary gland disorders,
Head and neck surgery.
He is a member of the Northern Skin Cancer Sub-group and a member of the Durham specialist skin MDT. He lectures on surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections, also skin cancer management and other aspects of facial deformity and cosmetic procedures. He is also a fellow of the European academy of facial plastic surgery and fellow of the British Association of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Mr Ryan is an inter speciality member of BAPRAS, and has been certified in cosmetic surgery of the face, nose, periorbital region and ears under the Cosmetic Surgery Certification Scheme by the Royal College of Surgeons.
Non-surgical treatments performed include Obagi peels, fillers and anti-wrinkle injections. The surgical procedures performed include blepharoplasties, chin surgery, rhinoplasties, facelifts, pinnaplasties, brow lifts, scar revision, skeletal facial deformities and fat transfer to the head and neck region.
