MR PARV SAINS

Mr Sains is a Consultant General with specialist interest General and Laparoscopic Surgery including Inaugural Hernia, Ventral Hernia, Incisional Hernia, Femoral Hernia Surgery, Emergency Abdominal Surgery including Appendectomy, Major Bowel Resection, Stoma, Coloproctology including Haemorrhoid and Fistula, Fissure, THD (Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation), HALO (Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation) Surgery, Colon Cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Surgery, TATME (Trans Anal Total Mesorectal Excision), TME (Total Mesorectal Excision), Low Rectal Cancer, TEMS (Trans Anal Endoscopic Surgery).
His clinical interests include:
• Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic) Surgery
• General Surgical procedures such as hernia repair, both
open and laparoscopically, excision of minor skin lesions and 'lumps and
bumps' surgery both under general and local anaesthetic
• Performing operations for colorectal cancer and operations for benign
diseases of the colon both open and laparoscopically. He also undertakes a
wide variety of proctology procedures
• Undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy
Mr Sains is regularly instructed in medicolegal cases and has been since 2015. He has been instructed as an Expert Witness in over 20 cases, acting for both Claimants and Defendants. He has experience of preparing short-screening reports, full court reports, condition and prognosis reports and has taken part in joint expert meetings.
One of his main current leadership roles involves being Surgical Clinical Governance Lead for Brighton Hospital. This is a demanding role that constantly requires elements of medico legal input and has furthered his experience in safe surgical
practice and clinical governance.
Mr Sains regularly appear before the Coroner’s court in his capacity as Governance Lead and has written many structured judgment reviews to assist the Coroner, often giving evidence on behalf of the Trust.
Mr Sains is Bond Solon certified having attained the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Certificate.
Mr W F ANTHONY MILES
MD MBChBFRCSEd (Gen)
Mr Miles is a Consultant Surgeon who has experience in providing medicolegal reports with respect to General Surgery, Emergency Surgery, and all aspects of Colorectal Cancer. He has a special interest in Transanal Surgery and the appropriate treatment of early and low rectal cancer. He is a national and international trainer for cancer surgery. His clinical interests are in Coloproctology, Laparoscopic Surgery and Colonoscopy.
He is a recognised expert in all aspects of hernia care and has chaired a European training program for day surgery repair of groin hernias. He has written book chapters regarding hernia surgery.
He has also taken a special interest in all aspects of colonoscopy including the treatment of large polyps and screening for colon cancer. Undertaking diagnostic, therapeutic colonoscopy and screening colonoscopy as part of the national screening program for colorectal cancer. Mr Miles is a certified Screening Colonocopist. Mr Miles is currently co-chair of the Sussex and Surrey colorectal cancer alliance and Education and Safety lead for the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital department of surgery.
Mr Miles is an invited expert lecturing to national meetings on ward round safety and prevention of surgical site infection.
Mr Miles has previously been employed at Board level as Clinical Director of Surgery and has undertaken performance reviews of consultants practice resulting in GMC referral.
