Details

Forensic Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Ltd (FCIR) are specialists in the analysis of road traffic collisions. Providing tailored solutions for the investigation of incidents involving road users of all types, ranging from a full analysis to answering specific questions about an incident. We supply court-ready reports and provide live evidence in Civil, Criminal and Coroners Courts.

We are routinely involved in investigations involving:
Cars, Motorcycles, Large Goods Vehicles, Buses and Coaches Pedestrians and Plant/Agricultural Vehicles.

Our expertise covers;
Vehicle Examinations
Mechanical road worthiness examinations, damage analysis and component failure examinations. This is an area where FCIR stand out combining knowledge of both vehicle condition and the collision dynamics. This is important because whilst there may be a defect to a vehicle it requires knowledge of both the vehicle and the collision to state if these were contributory to a collision. This applies equally to the analysis of another examiner's findings or examining the vehicles ourselves.

Collision Investigation and Collision Reconstruction
FCIR are specialists in the analysis of the circumstances of road traffic incidents. We are regularly instructed in high value Catastrophic Loss Civil proceedings, on both the Claimant's and Defendant's sides as well as receiving Single Joint Expert instructions. We also are called upon to give evidence in Criminal matters either for the Defence or assisting the Police in more complex matters in their consideration of a Criminal charge.

Light Bulb & Component Analysis
Establish if lights were on or off and whether components failed prior to a collision.

Scene Photographs & Videos, Plans & Scale Drawings
Full locus visits with photograph albums and ‘drive-through’ videos. Technical drawings for court purposes, detailing road layouts and vehicle movements. FCIR produce a Court-ready, full Collision Reconstruction of the incident using state of the art techniques, including 3D laser scanning of the locus and vehicles concerned and 3D Simulation of the same.

Verification of Reports
A critique of reports written by others.

CCTV and Incident Data Recorder (IDR) Analysis
Video footage of all types analysed for vehicle speed and position. Also interrogating of ‘Black Box’ data on vehicles.

Tachographs
Analysis of digital and analogue tachograph data, studying driver’s hours and vehicle speed.

FCIR also offer bespoke training for Collision Investigators, Solicitors and the Insurance Industry.

All FCIR experts are experienced in writing expert reports and producing exhibits for all Courts. We are conversant with Civil and Criminal Procedure Rules and routinely provide live evidence in Court.

FCIR are often instructed in cases of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, Murders, Causing Serious Injury by Dangerous driving and the Careless Driving counterparts. We are also regularly instructed in multi-million-pound litigations and are routinely praised for the level of detail included in our analyses.

There is little point in instructing an expert who cannot convey their message clearly in a live environment, as all efforts up to that point could be destroyed by an expert who confuses. This is why most of the experts at FCIR also deliver training in their field – another way in which FCIR excel at clearly conveying technical matters in simple and straightforward ways.

FCIR are confident in completing Joint Expert Reports and we are comfortable in taking the lead in constructing such documents. Attendance at case conferences are part of the service that we provide, be that in person or via video/telephone conferencing.

FCIR endeavour to provide updates to clients as an investigation progresses, allowing our customers to further progress on the case whilst we are working on their analysis. This means that our clients can efficiently use their time and aren't simply waiting for our report to arrive.
