Richard was a Consultant Forensic Engineer for an independent forensic science and engineering consultancy for thirteen years. During that time he gained a variety of experience in mechanical/materials failure investigation, incident analysis and product liability. He was instructed by both criminal and civil legal services and gave evidence in all levels of Court throughout the UK, ROI, Northern Ireland and Bermuda.
For eight years Richard worked for the engineering inspection industry within the LOLER, PUWER and PSSR framework. He worked for both a major insurance company and for a dedicated engineering inspection and consultancy business in that time. He has experience in inspection planning and preparation, audit of plant schedules and record keeping, as well as conducting ‘Thorough Examinations’ of plant and machinery. Examples of examinations he conducted are wind turbines, high lift capacity cranes, passenger/goods lifts, lifting accessories, PPE, forklift trucks, vehicle lifting equipment, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms(MEWPs) and minor pressure vessels.
Richard has been a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Engineers (Army Reserves) for over twenty years including service on overseas operations, the delivery of Phase 1/3 training to a variety of cap badges (OFSTED accredited and audited), and commanding a combat engineering Squadron(civil engineering – mobility, counter mobility and survivability functions including combat/general/force/air support).
