Dr Teresa Kelly is a Consultant Obstetrician based in Manchester.
She has worked as a Consultant in Obstetrics since 1999. She is currently part of the tertiary Maternal Medicine service at St Mary’s Manchester and her unit delivers approximately 14,000 women a year, 9,200 on the site where she works, which means that she is very experienced in caring for women during labour.
In addition, to practicing general high-risk obstetrics, Dr Kelly undertakes level 2 obstetric scanning. She has worked as a Consultant in both tertiary units and district general hospitals, which gives her insight into different care settings.
Dr Kelly has extensive experience of undertaking investigations into care, assessing causation and delivering change both within her Unit and in work that has been undertaken with other Trusts. In addition, she worked for HSIB for 18 months as a Subject Matter Advisor investigating the CARE of babys with hypoxic ischaemic hypoxia, those that die in labour and those that suffered early neonatal deaths.
She is also an experienced reviewer for Mothers and Babies: Reducing Risk through Audits and Confidential Enquiries across the UK (MBRRACE-UK) and the RCOG Each Baby Counts project.
Dr Kelly has also undertaken several investigations of Consultants under the Maintaining High Professional Standards framework.
All of this experience, in addition to her Expert Witness training, allows Dr Kelly to write objective, evidence based reports. She also has experience at giving evidence in Coroners Court.
Where indicated, Dr Kelly can review clients remotely. She is able to complete reports within six weeks of receipt of notes and instructions.
