Dr Radhika Padmagirison is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She is one of the leads for Maternal medicine in the department and manages women with medical disorders in pregnancy especially diabetes and endocrine disorders along with a multi-disciplinary team. She also offers pre-pregnancy counselling service for women with pre-existing endocrine disorders.
Dr Padmagirison has extensive gynaecological operating skills which include hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures (laparoscopic hysterectomy), open and vaginal procedures.
She is involved in presenting annual audits on management of gestational diabetes and is one of the key authors for the guideline on management of diabetes in pregnancy. She is also in charge of the GAP analysis on Management of diabetes in pregnancy.
Dr Padmagirison also contributes to a busy labour ward which delivers around 5,500 babies per year.
Dr Padmagirison has been involved in risk management in the department by actively participating in the risk management meetings. She has been part of the hospital panel representing the department in cases of medico-legal claims. She has also been involved with HSIB activity in the department and has a good general understanding of the medico-legal cases. Dr Padmagirison has actively contributed in reporting and filling datix forms for various obstetric and gynaecological indications.
Dr Padmagirison has authored articles, has made many international presentations and has extensive teaching experience in the UK and also overseas. She is responsible for organizing the departmental teaching program as college tutor, she also supports the GP trainees with their placements in the department.
