Professor Kavin Andi is a Consultant Maxillo-Facial Surgeon specialising in Ablative and Reconstructive Head and Neck Cancer Surgery at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London.

After completing Dental and Medical degrees at Bart’s and The London Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, Kavin undertook his Basic Surgical Training in Essex before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training programme in Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery at The Royal London Hospital; St Bartholomew’s Hospital; The Luton & Dunstable Hospital – his first link and introduction to Cranfield University; University College London and Guy’s , King’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Professor Andi’s areas of interest include augmented reality, robotic surgery, and 3D virtual surgical planning, for which he was award the prestigious Norman Rowe Clinical Prize by the British Association of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgeons (2012). Among his interests and research, Professor Andi has also been published and has written original software on a variety of platforms which were user-friendly tools to collect data on clinical and outcomes research.

He is a former Regional Specialty Advisor to The Royal College of Surgeons of England, External Examiner to Kings College University, MacMillan Cancer Professional Reviewer and former President of The Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists.

Kavin’s research interests include Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Surgical Robotics and Intelligent Medical Imaging and Processing for which he was awarded the 2012 Norman Rowe Clinical Prize by the British Association of Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgeons. Much of his work on Digital Engineering has been featured in the media. In 2013, he completed his console competency in Robotic Head and Neck surgery in Strasbourg. As an established speaker, Kavin has had the honour of representing his colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons with invitations to numerous national and international conferences.

Kavin’s expertise in Digital Engineering applied to Surgery has been recognised by The National Institute for Health Research and The European Commission where he peer reviews grant applications for research in the Technology and Innovation sectors.
