Claire is a Chartered OHS expert (CMIOSH) and experienced Health and Safety manager in numerous business sectors.
For over 15 years, Claire has been providing health and safety advice in sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, facilities management, health and social care and local authorities.
Throughout Claire’s career, she has managed and developed procedures for the successful management Hazardous Substances. Whilst working in the pharmaceutical industry, Claire led on the management of hazardous substances within laboratories and liaised closely with Occupational Health ensuring suitable and sufficient Health Surveillance was in place.
Throughout Claire’s career, she has developed and implemented procedures to enable the successful management of Working at Height risks. Whilst working within the Facilities Management sector, Claire developed procedures, assisted with the development of working at height risk assessments and audited works to ensure compliance had been achieved and where not, findings/recommendations raised to help with continuous improvement.
Claire has managed large company events to ensure health and safety standards were met. In particular, whilst working for a pharmaceutical company, Claire enabled an event to take place where employee’s families were able to access laboratories and the children undertook experiments, with the aim of bringing science to life. The event demonstrated that good planning and engagement within a business, can enable events to take place safely. Claire wrote an article which was published in the SHP in 2015 titled “Can do attitude to health and safety” based on this event.
Claire has previously worked for an Environmental Consultancy working as a laboratory analyst (asbestos removal), undertaking air monitoring, four stage clearance testing and issuing reoccupation certificates. She worked on client sites varying from demolition sites, airports, schools and retail premises.
The management of legionella featured strongly within each of Claire’s roles over her working career, specifically, whilst working for Sanctuary Housing, I was responsible for managing legionella within 100 Care Home and 500+ Supporting Living sites.
