Edward Baillie is an Addictions Therapist & Treatment Planning Consultant. In September 2018 he founded the Organisation New Connections; a team of therapeutic consultants/professional counsellors with many years of experience of working in prisons with prisoners with addiction problems. New Connections work with men and women, and currently have clients in over 40 prisons up and down the country.
For over 12 years Edward has been supporting men and women with addiction problems, primarily drugs and alcohol, through his work with self-help groups.
As a part of his specialist training prior to starting to work with RAPT, and supported by substantial formal in-house training Edward has acquired the requisite competencies in writing expert reports for Offender Management Units and external Probation Services as well as preparing reports for Parole Boards and giving oral evidence to those Boards as required.
In the last three years Edward has prepared more than 120 expert addiction reports including proposed treatment plans, to the various Probation Services as well as developing some 150 treatment plans for prisoners with substance dependency issues and has been actively involved in executing those plans.
Currently he is working either with groups in prisons or with individual prisoners in his capacity as Parole Board Expert Witness in over 40 individual prisons.
His work since 2015 has incorporated work in 4 different prisons: a Men’s C Category Local, Men’s B Category and Men’s B/C Category Remand as well as a Women’s local prison. Including posts as Full time Addictions Counsellor as part of the Programmes Team, October 2015 to April 2016. Full time Drug and Alcohol Practitioner/ Addictions Counsellor, April 2016 to April 2018. Consulting role Consultant Programmes Therapist, September to December 2017.
