Details

Professor Richard Graham is a Consultant Radiologist (16 years) with sub-specialist expertise in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology, spinal radiology, sports imaging and nuclear medicine. He practices general radiology in a district general hospital setting and is experienced in cancer imaging also.  He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Bath and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol.

He was previously Deputy Medical Director, and subsequently Interim Chief Medical Officer, of his NHS Foundation Trust where he led clinical governance. Richard is past president of the British Nuclear Medicine Society and the Royal Society of Medicine Radiology Section.

Prof Graham has been undertaking medicolegal work for last 7 years and completed the Bond Solon Excellence in Report Writing and the 2024 Specialist info Advanced Expert Reaccreditation Course. He is a vetted expert for the UK Register of Expert Witnesses, APIL (1st tier), Fellow of the Faculty of Expert Witnesses and Full Member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Case mix includes clinical negligence, personal injury, criminal cases and coronial cases. Claimant and Defendant approximately 60%-40%.

He undertakes both Claimant and Defendant work and has been instructed as a Single Joint expert. Medical Report turnaround time is usually 1 month but he can provide reports in 5 working days in urgent situations. Prof Graham can also supply Screening Reports.

Professor Graham can act as an expert witness, including the preparation of medico-legal reports and appearing in court, in cases relating to his specialist areas of expertise. These include:
• General radiology - CT, MRI, plain film and ultrasound
• Cancer radiology
• Musculoskeletal radiology, including interventional radiology, trauma and sports injuries
• Nuclear medicine, including SPECT-CT and PET-CT

Civil Court experience includes:
Brown v Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (for defence) 2024. His Honour Judge Carter preferred my opinion and said that I was helpful to court in his Judgement.
