Dr Tim Crayford is a Medical Epidemiologist, specializing in public health and longevity.  He provides expert advice in determinations of length of life, using adjustments to account for people's medical conditions.  His calculations are specific to the individual concerned, taking their personal and health circumstances into account.  They may be applied where people have either lost their lives prematurely, to help determine how long someone might have lived.  Or where people have been subject to injury, and may experience a reduction in life expectancy.

He currently works as the Medical Director of Just Group Plc, a UK-based financial services company.  He is responsible for the design of calculations in medical adjustment to actuarial life expectancy.  His calculations are based on over 4 million person-years of pensioner experience, and are based on over £20BN in assets. 

He also advises at Proxximos, a tech start-up, which aims to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases by remote technology sensing.

Dr Crayford is an expert in the application of technological solutions to population health, with many years of board-level experience and over 10 years experience providing advice on infectious diseases and population health to ministers in the UK. He has been on the GMC’s specialist register in Public Health and Epidemiology.

For the start of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, Dr Crayford was invited to lead the scientific design the UK’s Coronavirus smartphone app, being Chief Scientist, NHSx. The technology was used by 20M people in the UK.

Formerly the UK Government’s Chief Medical Officer at the Department for Transport between 2008-2011, Dr Crayford was closely involved with the UK government’s transport response to the Swine ‘Flu Pandemic in 2009.

From 2002-2008 he was the Director of Public Health for Croydon Primary Care Trust, managing the 2003 SARS epidemic. In 2006, he was elected President of the UK Association of Directors of Public Health.

Dr Crayford has published in many reputable academic journals.
