Gary Gold is an expert electrical engineer with over 30 years of building services design and project management experience in the construction and engineering industries. Gary is an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council, a Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and a Member of the Academy of Experts. He is a highly accomplished professional and Director of Gold Electrical Consultancy Services Limited and testifying Expert.
With a wealth of experience in the electrical industry, Gary has established himself as a trusted expert in providing unmatched electrical consulting services. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to delivery, Gary ensures that his clients receive the highest standards of service.
He is a specialist in electrical building services ranging from HV through to LV infrastructure, general and emergency lighting design and controls, fire and security, emergency generator and tertiary supplies including UPS and CHP. Gary and has provided expert advice, consulting and expert witness investigations and reporting on a wide range of buildings, including commercial, education, health care, public sector, residential and retail developments throughout the UK and the Middle East.
As an electrical expert witness, Gary has performed forensic investigations and produced reports on a series of technical issues, including electrical faults, fires and explosions, personal accidents, and injuries, often resulting from faulty electrical wiring, poor design and installation, inadequate lighting and poorly placed fixtures. He has also provided expert reports on major adjudications and arbitrations including advice for the avoidance of disputes, particularly relating to property, building services and infrastructure, directly for clients entering into design and build (D&B) contracts, lease agreements, pre-acquisition reviews and dilapidations. Gary has recently been giving advice on the commissioning of electrical services in a major teaching hospital in the UK including an analysis of a dispute over the operation of CHP engines.
Gary has recently given oral evidence under cross examination at the Technology and Construction Court in London where he was appointed as the Electrical Expert on a case involving the design of the electrical services relating to a new Oncology Wing at St James PFI hospital in Leeds. Gary also has a wealth of expertise in MEP services in PFI hospitals and in his role as Lead Electrical Engineer, Gary has first-hand experience of commissioning teams and final certification and sign-off of major healthcare construction contracts.
Gary’s extensive portfolio of design projects includes some of Scotland’s most high-profile developments including Scottish Water’s new, ultra-sustainable headquarters office building, intelligent control centre and data centre, near Glasgow; Silverburn Shopping Centre cinema complex and Winter Garden extension; Glasgow University Medical Veterinary Laboratory extension; and the refurbishment of Glasgow Cathedral. Gary has also carried out electrical design on major projects in the Middle East which include the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi and the Mubarak Al Hassawi medical centre in Sharjah.
