Expert Witness in Health Psychology – Dr Sian Armstrong
HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist | Over 150 Expert Reports Completed

I am an experienced Practitioner Health Psychologist providing expert witness services for civil and criminal cases across Scotland and England. Since 2020, I have worked clinically across NHS and private sectors, specialising in the psychological impact of physical health conditions, including chronic pain, oncology, rheumatology, and weight management.

Over the past three years, I have prepared over 150 expert witness reports in cases of personal injury, medical negligence, and psychological trauma. My reports are used in civil proceedings, criminal cases, academic and employment tribunals, and joint expert instructions. I provide robust psychological assessments and clear, evidence-based opinions on prognosis, functional impact, and treatment needs. I also have experience giving oral evidence in court and with joint expert consultations. I have also undertaken specific associated training.

My clinical expertise includes the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and adjustment disorders—especially where these intersect with long-term health conditions. I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches, and I regularly contribute to multidisciplinary case formulation and treatment planning.

Areas of interest include:
Anxiety, phobia, depression, physical health, chronic pain, pain management, health anxiety, crps, cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and weight management.

I also bring experience in psychological risk assessment, behavioural analysis, and consultancy, including international training projects in Ghana and Nepal. My work is underpinned by formal expert witness training, ensuring compliance with legal standards and professional reporting practices.

I am available for instruction in personal injury, medical negligence, and complex health-related cases requiring psychological input.
