For over 30 years Dr Grady has held national and international roles in pain medicine, resulting in a reputation and recognition as one of pain medicine’s authorities international and leaders.
Dr Grady is Past Dean of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists of the United Kingdom.
She has published extensively -to date six books, five medical manuals, fourteen chapters, threenational guidelines and over fifty other articles. She has been a Pain Medicine consultant for more than 30 years and has more than 32 years experience in Pain Medicine. Dr Grady has been preparing expert evidence in matters of personal injury for 30 years. She produces on average twenty-eight reports per year. She currently receives instructions from both Claimant and Defendant solicitors in a ratio of 90:10 Claimant: Defendant and has received joint instructions.
She has extensive experience of producing joint statements. She has undertaken formal training in report writing She has attended court and given oral evidence on three occasions. She prides herself on the timely response to requests and her accessibility and availability to legal professionals for any discussion which might arise; she meets very regularly with counsel and other members of the legal team.
Her reports offer a comprehensive, detailed assessment, opinion, explanation and prognosis. Her roles at national and international level as educator, examiner and clinician in the highly specialised area of pain medicine furnish her with the experience, expertise and authority to give opinion on all pain syndromes to include pain with related disability following injury, pain with apparently, which can in fact, be explained by the science of pain medicine.
She also has experience in the clinical syndromes of back and spinal pain and sciatica, Complex Regional Pain Syndromes, neuropathic pain, post amputation pain, musculoskeletal and joint pains, and myofascial disorders to include fibromyalgia and their associated disability. She has considerable experience and understanding of overwhelming widespread pain.
Dr Grady has a particular interest in the explanation for chronic pain and the progression of acute pain to chronic. She has a keen interest in the impact of pain on activities of daily living and mood which is based on her career experience specialising in psychiatry. She has a fascination for the interplay between mind and body in the genesis, progression and treatment of chronic pain; this stems from the time of her BSc in the pharmacology of the central nervous system.
