Details

Dr Sohail Salam is a Neuro-Rehabilitation Consultant at The James Cook University Hospital. He provides Neuro-Rehabilitation input to inpatients, outpatients and also patients in the community. He covers private neuro-rehab units in the North East and also supports medico-legal clients as a private treating clinician. Dr Salam has been actively involved in service development, teaching, training and research activities. He is an elected executive member of British Society of Physical Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) and chair of Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist Interest Group (VRSIG) of BSPRM. He has worked with DWP and has trialled new PIP assessment forms and has also been involved in teaching/training PIP assessors. Dr Salam has been a committee member of Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum (NABIF) for the last few years and has also been involved in meetings/discussion with the local ICB team.

Dr Salam has developed a special interest in Medico-legal work for Neuro-Rehabilitation clients and works closely with legal firms to provide thorough assessments and reports in the specified time period. He provides input as a Treating Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant to Medico-legal clients in the North East and surrounding areas.

• Rehabilitation of Brain Injury patients (including mild brain injury and concussion).
• Stroke 
• Cerebral Infection, including Meningitis and Encephalitis
• Cerebral palsy.
• Spinal Cord Injury.
• Amputee/Prosthetic rehabilitation.
• Complex Major/Poly Trauma patients.
• Spasticity management (including Botulinum toxin interventions).
• Pain management.
