Rob Moore is a Clinical Scientist (HCPC-registered) and Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists specialising in clinical, forensic and analytical toxicology. He has over 20 years' experience in laboratory medicine and has authored more than 4,000 toxicology reports. Rob has extensive experience providing expert opinion in coronial proceedings, has given oral evidence in more than 40 inquests, and accepts criminal, civil, coronial and regulatory instructions, including Single Joint Expert appointments. He provides expert interpretation of both common prescribed medicines and complex drug regimens, including opioids, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and palliative-care polypharmacy. His specialist interests include novel psychoactive substances, synthetic opioids, and the interpretation of complex post-mortem toxicology findings. He provides clear, impartial and court-compliant toxicological opinion for coroners, solicitors and other legal professionals
Areas of Expertise:
• Interpretation of post-mortem toxicology, including drug concentrations, redistribution, and revance to cause of death
• Analytical toxicology of drugs in biological specimens, including emerging novel psychoactive substances
• Pharmacology and toxicodynamics, including mechanisms of toxicity, interactions, and behavioural effects of both prescribed and non-prescribe drugs
• Specialist knowledge of rare and emerging substances not routinely encountered in toxicology practice
Expert Witness Experience:
• Experienced in preparing court-compliant expert reports and giving impartial evidence in Coroner's Court, including oral evidence in more than 40 inquests.
• Has prepared reports for criminal, civil, coronial and regulatory matters, and has acted as a Single Joint Expert.
• Cases have included deaths involving alcohol, prescribed medicines, illicit drugs, synthetic opioids, benzodiazepines, and synthetic cannabinoids.
• Particular expertise in interpreting novel and uncommon psychoactive substances where published data are limited.
• Accepts criminal, civil, coronial and regulatory instructions, supported by Cardiff University / Bond Solon expert witness training.
